Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has clarified that show-cause notices issued to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff are intended to enforce regulations on surrogate advertising rather than target individuals for publicity. The notices concern the promotion of a pan masala brand, which Mundhe states violates the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulations of 2018. Under these regulations, promoters and advertisers share responsibility for ensuring that product claims are truthful and not misleading. Mundhe noted that while the brand manufactures its pan masala outside Maharashtra, it remains prohibited from promoting the product within the state. The FDA maintains that the actors are being held accountable for their role in endorsing a brand associated with a banned product.
