Maharashtra FDA Issues Notices To Actors Over Vimal Elaichi Ads

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has issued show-cause notices to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff regarding their promotion of Vimal Elaichi. The regulator alleges that these advertisements constitute surrogate marketing for Vimal Pan Masala, a product prohibited within the state. The FDA has cited Sections 24 and 53 of the Food Safety and Standards ACT, 2006, which penalise misleading advertisements and those involved in their publication. The actors have been directed to explain their roles, cease further promotion, and remove existing content from social media within 15 days. The enforcement action is part of a broader crackdown on food-safety violations led by FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.
