Maharashtra FDA Seizes 29 Tonnes Of Unsafe Snacks

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration, led by Tukaram Mundhe, has seized nearly 29 tonnes of food products and raw materials from 11 establishments in Thane’s Shil-Diva area. The raid, conducted on September 9, uncovered unhygienic conditions including cockroach and rodent infestations, as well as the use of poor-quality ingredients like used cooking oil. The seized items, worth Rs 20.48 lakh, included potato wafers, farali chiwda, and various namkeen products. The FDA has suspended the licences of all 11 establishments and ordered them to cease operations immediately. Additionally, the regulator has mandated that organisers of community food programmes submit advance notice seven days before their events.
