· Automobile · RushLane, CarWale, Team-BHP
Mahindra has introduced a 6-seater configuration for the XEV 9S electric SUV, featuring individual captain seats in the second row. This new layout replaces the standard bench seat to offer a more premium, comfort-focused experience for passengers. The option is available on the higher-spec Pack Two Above, Pack Three, and Pack Three Above variants. Since its launch in November 2025 at Rs 19.95 lakh, the XEV 9S has become the top-selling electric vehicle in Mahindra's lineup, with 4,131 units sold last month. The vehicle retains its existing powertrain options, including 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh battery packs.
Why it matters
The addition of captain seats targets chauffeur-driven customers and families seeking higher comfort, potentially increasing the XEV 9S's market share in the premium electric SUV segment.
