Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday criticised the central government over the denial of political clearance for Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's proposed US tour. Kharge alleged that travel permissions are being granted selectively and claimed the Centre wants to block states from engaging directly with potential foreign investors. The Ministry of External Affairs defended the decision by stating that the proposed itinerary was not appropriate for the office held and the purpose of the visit. However, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that political clearance had been granted for Reddy's separate visit to the United Kingdom.
