Man Arrested from West Bengal Over Attappady Double Murder

Kerala Police arrested 28-year-old Provath Das in West Bengal on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old woman and her four-year-old child in Attappady. The decapitated bodies of Pranitha and Johitha were discovered packed in sacks in the Bhavani river at Cheerakkadavu on Sunday by local residents grazing cattle. Police traced the accused using the delivery sack used to transport goods to a shop in Kottathara, where Das had been living and working on a plantation for less than a month. According to police, Das confessed to the killings and stated that the victims were not his wife and daughter, having known them for only two months. A special police team travelled to West Bengal to take Das into custody, and questioning is under way to determine the motive.
