A 48-year-old man named Arumugam was arrested by Sathyamangalam police in Erode district for allegedly instigating a schoolgirl to mix cow dung powder into school meal sambar. The incident occurred at a Government Middle School in Ramapailur, which serves 51 students under the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme. Official inquiries revealed that Arumugam gave ₹10 to the student to buy the powder after his wife was removed from her position as a school cook following quality complaints. Investigation confirmed the powder was only added to a separate portion of sambar kept for a teacher to taste and was never served to the students. Arumugam was produced before the Sathyamangalam Court and remanded in judicial custody.
