Man Arrested in Shivamogga for Shooting Dog Dead With Unlicensed Firearm

A man named Lingamurthy was arrested in Karnataka's Shivamogga district after allegedly shooting a stray dog dead with an unlicensed firearm. The incident occurred on Friday around 11:15 am when a local resident, Boreppa, was taking his cattle for grazing along a public road accompanied by a brown male dog. When the dog reached near Lingamurthy's house, it got into a fight with his pet dogs. Angered by the altercation, Lingamurthy fired a bullet that hit the dog in its rear thigh, killing it on the spot. Police registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Arms Act.
