Manchester United's Carrick confident ahead of Como trip despite winless start
· Sports · Al Jazeera, BBC Sport, ESPN
Manchester United interim-turned-permanent manager Michael Carrick says he needs no reassurance from club hierarchy despite the team's worst English top-flight start in 40 years. United have won only two of 10 games across all competitions this season, exiting the League Cup to Brighton and losing heavily to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Carrick, appointed permanent manager in May after an impressive interim spell last season, will face Italian side Como in the Champions League on Wednesday. A growing injury list further complicates matters, with Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu, and Ayden Heaven all sidelined for the trip.
Why it matters
Carrick's position remains precarious as United languish near the bottom of the Premier League, with the team's poor form putting the new permanent manager's job security under immediate scrutiny.
