Manchester United has submitted a £60m bid plus an additional £5m for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba as the club nears the completion of its midfield reconstruction. The opening offer is expected to be rejected, though talks are continuing with an expectation that the transfer will eventually be finalised. United's recruitment department has already added Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa during the summer window. With Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte not favored by the coaching staff, United needed reinforcement to complement Kobbie Mainoo and provide box-to-box energy. Baleba is currently recovering from a pre-season ankle injury that is expected to sideline him for another couple of weeks.
