Manipur Minister Confirms 1951 as NRC Base Year

Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam announced in the state assembly that 1951 will serve as the base year for the National Register of Citizens update in the state. The government is currently tracing records from that year and intends to pursue the matter with the central government. Additionally, the minister reported that 24,475 illegal immigrants have been detected in Manipur, with significant numbers identified in the Kamjong, Tengnoupal, and Chandel districts. The state has established a 12-member committee to manage the identification and influx of illegal immigrants.
