US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit India from October 19 to 22, stopping in Mumbai and the Gujarat refinery hub Jamnagar while skipping New Delhi. The State Department announced the trip will focus on strengthening the US-India strategic partnership and discussing energy cooperation and investment opportunities. Rubio's stop at the Reliance-operated Jamnagar refinery comes just a day after US President Donald Trump is mandated by Congress to propose potential tariffs on countries buying Russian oil under the SRIA. The Ministry of External Affairs has not confirmed details regarding why Delhi was omitted from the itinerary.
