Martinez Criticism Puts Man Utd Director Wilcox Under Scrutiny Again
· Sports · BBC Sport, Indian Express
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez publicly criticised the club's leadership following a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. Speaking to US broadcaster CBS, Martinez stated that the team lacks the squad depth and ambition of top rivals. The remarks place director of football Jason Wilcox back in the spotlight nearly 10 months after Ruben Amorim's departure over tactical disagreements with Wilcox. Dressing room sources previously indicated the club needed more summer signings in specific positions than the three players who arrived. Martinez's contract expires at the end of the season, though the club holds an option for a one-year extension.
