Maternity leave for third child of women government employees raised to 365 days

The Tamil Nadu government has increased maternity leave for the third child of women government employees from 12 weeks to 365 days. Minister for Human Resources Management D. Sarathkumar announced the policy change in the Assembly on Tuesday. Women employees currently receive 365 days of leave for their first two children, while those with two or more children were previously limited to 12 weeks. Additionally, the government plans to launch a mobile app called ‘Vetri Paathai’ for students preparing for competitive exams, with a budget allocation of ₹20 lakh. The department also announced infrastructure upgrades, including a new building at the TNPSC headquarters and a computer laboratory at the Government Training Institute in Bhavanisagar.
