Seventeen-year-old Mayank Chakraborty and 13-year-old Pratitee Bordoloi have won the classical titles at the Asian Junior Chess Championships in Mumbai. Chakraborty, India's 94th Grandmaster and the Northeast region's first, secured the open classical title after previously winning the Asian Junior Rapid title. Bordoloi clinched the girls' category title along with a Women's Grandmaster norm, entering the tournament as the top seed. Chakraborty has been mentoring Bordoloi for the past three to four months, preparing her openings ahead of the competition. Both players triumphed in the under-20 championship hall on the same day.
