Medical Shop Owner Hacked to Death in Bengaluru's Madiwala
· India · The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Indian Express
A 40-year-old medical shop owner named Suheil was killed by four armed assailants on Madiwala Main Road in Bengaluru on Saturday night. The victim was intercepted by the attackers on two motorcycles while he was caught in traffic around 10 p.m. Witnesses reported that the assailants used machetes to carry out the assault in full public view before abandoning their weapons and fleeing the scene. Police are investigating the incident as a potential retaliatory attack for the August 13 murder of a rowdy-sheeter named Shabir in Bandepalya. While the victim had no criminal record, police suspect his brothers' involvement in the previous murder case may have motivated the attack.
Why it matters
The brazen public murder highlights ongoing concerns regarding law and order in Bengaluru and the potential for retaliatory violence between criminal factions.
