Meerut Gang Arrested for Stealing Copper Cables in Kerala

An 11-member gang from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Kerala for stealing copper cables from abandoned BSNL terminals. The gang had sent their two-wheelers by train to Kannur before flying in separately. They allegedly stole Rs 12,000 worth of copper cables before being caught by police. Kannur City Police Commissioner B V Vijaya Bharath Reddy stated the arrests followed an alert from Thrissur City Police. The gang used the bikes to move around and had concealed cable cutters on their bodies. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Telecommunications Act.
