Deepanshu Shokeen won the Delhi University Students' Union vice-president election as an independent candidate. He secured 30,615 votes, defeating Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's Ishu Maurya and National Students' Union of India's Vir Chatrath. Shokeen, a student of Buddhist Studies at the University of Delhi, previously graduated from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. He comes from Peeragarhi village in Delhi, where his father is a bus conductor and his mother works as an anganwadi worker. Shokeen's campaign focused on student concerns, including safety and accommodation.
