Meghalaya High Court Quashes FIR Against U.P. Students After Settlement

The High Court of Meghalaya quashed an FIR against six students from Uttar Pradesh who were accused of vandalising a Shillong homestay on July 11. Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere passed the order on Monday after the students reached a settlement with the proprietor and paid ₹2.06 lakh in full and final compensation. The accused group included three minors, one 18-year-old, and two individuals in their 20s preparing for competitive examinations. The court directed two of the adult students to pay an additional ₹25,000 each and complete six days of community service at the Sikh Centre Sri Guru Singh Sabha and Jiva Cares. The remaining four students were exempted from community service due to their age.
