Meta Acquires AI Coding Startup Conductor

· Technology · TechCrunch

Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup founded in 2024, which enables users to deploy parallel software agents across cloud, local, or mobile environments. The acquisition was announced by Conductor's CEO Charlie Holtz on Wednesday, who stated plans for new interface features by early next year. Conductor's cloud service will shut down on November 20, after which user data will be deleted, while its core functionality remains operational until then. Meta, which launched its own coding agent Muse Code in August and reached 10 million users with Muse agents, confirmed the deal to TechCrunch but declined to provide further details. The company also acquired Moltbook, a viral agent platform, as part of its recent AI-focused acquisition spree.

Why it matters

The acquisition directly impacts software developers by expanding Meta's AI tools for coding, potentially accelerating AI integration in Indian tech companies and startups through enhanced agent-based development capabilities.
