· Technology · Engadget, TechCrunch, Unite.AI
Meta has launched Muse Gadgets, an open source initiative enabling developers to create their own Muse-powered hardware, accompanied by a Linux SDK and firmware. The company simultaneously unveiled Muse Home Link, a USB-C powered smart home dongle allowing Muse to connect to home networks and control TVs, speakers, and https-enabled devices. According to Meta's head of product for superintelligence labs, Nat Friedman, the platform is designed to be flexible, supporting form factors including E Ink displays, HDMI dongles, and small touchscreen accessories. Meta is distributing 5,000 Muse Home Link units to Muse subscribers, and has established a dedicated Discord community for the project.
Why it matters
Developers and tech hobbyists can now integrate Meta's Muse AI agent into custom hardware, potentially expanding the ecosystem beyond Meta's own devices and encouraging third-party innovation in smart home and AI interfaces.
