Meta is refuting claims that its Muse AI agent read user messages without permission following a report by Inc. columnist Jason Aten. Meta Vice President of Communications Andy Stone stated that the Messages integration in the Muse Mac app is entirely opt-in and requires explicit user activation. Users must enable both Full Disk Access and the Messages connector for the app to access any message content. Meta Superintelligence Labs executive David Singleton added that the macOS system-level protections involve a three-step permission process that cannot be circumvented even by an application bug.
