Meta Unveils Lightweight VR Glasses Featuring IMAX Compatibility and Snapdragon Chip

Meta announced its newest virtual reality entry, Meta VR Glasses, at the Connect conference with a starting price of $1,299.99 and a scheduled release next spring. Built from a magnesium alloy, the glasses are five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3 and run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite processor with a pocket-sized computing puck serving as the battery. The device features micro-OLED panels delivering a 5K Infinite Display alongside Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio support. Meta is positioning the device as the first IMAX Enhanced certified VR device, partnering with Disney to stream 3D movies and Marvel films starting in November. Users can control the device using Meta AI voice commands and hand gestures.
