Meta Updates Smart Glasses to Block Camera Recording Loophole

Meta is rolling out a software update for its smart glasses to prevent users from bypassing the recording indicator light. According to Alex Himel, Meta's VP of AR, the camera will now automatically stop working if the LED light is covered during a recording session. This update marks the second time in less than two months that the company has modified the device's software to address public privacy concerns. Last month, Meta disabled cameras on glasses that detected physical damage to the LED indicator. The company faces growing backlash and scrutiny over individuals using the wearable devices to covertly film and harass people in public spaces.
