Michael Carrick Rejects Claims Manchester United Is Unmanageable
· Sports · BBC Sport
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has publicly dismissed the theory that the club is impossible to manage. Carrick faces significant pressure as he prepares for Sunday's Premier League home match against Bournemouth, following a seven-game winless streak. His position has been further complicated by public criticism from senior players Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes regarding his tactics and the club's recruitment. Carrick acknowledged that the team's 4-1 Champions League loss to Como was unacceptable but defended his side against claims that they lack work rate and pressing intensity. He stated that pressing is only one component of football and that the team must return to the successful habits established last season.
Why it matters
The club's ongoing struggles and the potential for a third managerial change in three seasons create significant uncertainty for the team's future performance and tactical stability.
