Military Intelligence has joined the investigation into the theft of service weapons and ammunition from the 20 Madras Regiment premises in the Secunderabad Cantonment. Authorities have ruled out the involvement of Agniveers in the incident, which saw four AK-203 assault rifles, an INSAS 1B1 rifle, six 9 mm Auto 1A pistols, and a civilian 6.35-bore pistol go missing. The discrepancy was discovered on the morning of August 31, 2026, after the locks on the Kote and Battalion Magazine were found broken. Investigators are currently examining how the highly secured storage area was accessed and reviewing the movements of all personnel with authorized entry. The probe is being conducted from an undisclosed location within the defence area to maintain strict confidentiality.
