Ministry Orders NTA Audit After Exam Disruptions

The Union education ministry directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct a thorough audit of all exam processes and submit a report on corrective actions it has taken. The order followed the cancellation of UGC‑NET exams in English, commerce and sociology this month after fact‑checking, typographical and translation errors were found in the papers, and a previous cancellation of the 3 May 2026 NEET‑UG exam due to a paper leak. Minister Pralhad Joshi chaired a meeting where more than 50 NTA staff were dismissed, and private‑sector specialists were brought in for cyber‑security, psychometrics and question‑paper design. Ten new professional leadership positions, including Chief Technology Officer, Chief Finance Officer, CISO and roles in test security, R&D and psychometrics, were advertised and are being onboarded. Joshi demanded strict compliance with exam protocols and an overhaul of the Confidential Operations (CONOPS) architecture, with secluded rooms and air‑gapped systems
