Mirzapur: The Movie Cleared With A Certificate, 3-Hour-17-Minute Runtime
· Entertainment · Bollywood Hungama, Times of India
Mirzapur: The Movie, produced by Excel Entertainment's Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an 'A' certificate and a runtime of 197.19 minutes, or 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 19 seconds. The film, a rare Indian web-series-to-film adaptation, releases on September 4 and continues the franchise's signature profanity and violence. It joins a post-pandemic trend of long Hindi runs that includes Animal (3 hours 21 minutes), Dhurandhar The Revenge (3 hours 49 minutes), and Pushpa 2 (3 hours 20 minutes). The cast features Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Shweta Tripathi, and Ravi Kishan, among others.
Why it matters
A 3-hour-17-minute runtime with an 'A' certificate limits the film's theatrical audience to adults and forces exhibitors to schedule fewer daily shows, directly impacting box-office per-screen economics. As one of the first Indian web series adapted into a theatrical film, its opening will test whether the OTT-to-cinema pipeline can deliver big-screen revenue for platforms and producers.
