· Sports · Indian Express, Sportstar, ESPNCricinfo

Mizoram player Chinmay Sutar scored 400 runs in a Ranji Trophy Plate Division match against Nagaland at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima on Monday. He is the second batter in the history of the tournament to reach a quadruple century, following BB Nimbalkar, who scored 443 not out for Maharashtra in 1948. Sutar is the 10th player overall in first-class cricket history to achieve this milestone. The southpaw previously played for the Mumbai domestic side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy before moving to Mizoram.

Why it matters

This rare performance places Sutar in an elite group of cricketers and marks a significant individual achievement in domestic Indian cricket.
