Prime Minister Narendra Modi walked with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the BRICS Business Forum 2026 in New Delhi. The leaders held hands during the walk, which served as a public display of the ties between the member nations. The BRICS grouping currently consists of 11 members, including India, Russia, Iran, South Africa, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Collectively, these nations represent approximately 49.5 per cent of the global population, 40 per cent of the world's GDP, and 26 per cent of international trade.
