Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has confirmed his international career is over, saying his Pakistan chapter is "now closed" after obtaining British citizenship through his wife, Narjis Khan. The move forces him to register as a British local in English domestic competitions like the County Championship and The Hundred, which requires signing a declaration that he cannot represent another country as a local player. Amir had retired from international cricket in December 2024. Across 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 62 T20Is for Pakistan, he took 119, 81 and 71 wickets respectively, and was a key figure in Pakistan's 2009 T20 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy wins, including a 3-16 spell against India in the 2017 final.
