· Sports · Times of India, ESPNCricinfo, Sportstar
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and left-hander Devdutt Padikkal have joined the South Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy final in Chennai. The domestic appearance arrives as Siraj faces scrutiny over his recent form, wicket-taking impact, and workload following the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. During that drawn Test, Siraj bowled 26 overs and claimed two wickets, with team management having considered Gurnoor Brar for the second Test in Colombo. Former national selector Devang Gandhi noted that Siraj should leverage his experience and wobble-seam ability to regain rhythm.
Why it matters
The Duleep Trophy final provides Mohammed Siraj an opportunity to regain bowling form and address workload concerns ahead of upcoming international assignments.
