More than 80% of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz are now utilizing a shipping route along the Omani coast, according to Kpler data. This shift occurs as Iran continues to oppose the use of the Omani route, which was largely inactive just one month ago. While Iran has previously attempted to assert control over the waterway and collect transit fees, the increased presence of US naval forces is providing protection for commercial traffic. Analysts note that Tehran's ability to enforce its claims over the strategic waterway has diminished significantly. Major Gulf oil producers, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE, are adapting their logistics by chartering Very Large Crude Carriers to navigate the region.
