Mourinho keeps Clasico midas touch 13 years on as La Liga heats up
· Sports · BBC Sport
Jose Mourinho secured a 2-1 La Liga victory for Real Madrid at Barcelona on Sunday, ending the hosts' nine-game unbeaten domestic streak. Kylian Mbappe scored twice, including a late winner, as Mourinho maintained his unbeaten run against Barcelona with his sixth El Clasico victory in six attempts. The result moved Real Madrid to within three points of Barcelona at the top of the league table. Mourinho, who returned to Real Madrid this summer after 13 years, celebrated the win with his trademark knee slide on the Camp Nou pitch.
Why it matters
The victory reduces Barcelona's lead at the top of La Liga and tightens the title race, directly affecting the championship prospects of both Madrid and Barcelona this season.
