Severe waterlogging near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai has disrupted travel as heavy rain lashed the city on Friday. Videos show cars submerged in water near the airport, with commuters advised to plan journeys carefully due to ongoing and forecasted rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 40 kmph. The city is expected to receive more rain on Monday and Tuesday, coinciding with the start of the Ganpati festival. Since June 1, Mumbai has recorded 1,809.9 mm of rain in Colaba and 2,259.9 mm in Santacruz, with the southwest monsoon withdrawal delayed in recent years.
