Mumbai Ferry With 38 Rescued After Snag Near Gateway of India

A ferry named Anwari, carrying 34 passengers and four crew members, developed a technical snag about 1.5 nautical miles from the Gateway of India jetty in Mumbai on Thursday evening and was stranded in the Arabian Sea around 8:30 pm. The police control room alerted personnel from Beat No. 1, including Constable Abhijit Shinde and Police Naik Gurav, who located another ferry, Azad Hind, operating nearby and contacted its owner, Junaid Mulla, for assistance. The Azad Hind reached the Anwari shortly afterwards and towed it back to Gateway of India Jetty No. 2, arriving at around 9:10 pm. All 34 passengers and four crew members were brought safely ashore with no injuries reported.
