· Entertainment · Hindustan Times, Moneycontrol, NDTV
Mumbai Mayor Ritu Rajesh Tawde received a threat email on Friday morning targeting her office and the Punjabi singer's India Tour event at Mahalaxmi Racecourse scheduled for November 27. The email also threatened Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Separately, Delhi Police denied permission for Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, citing security concerns and a hoax bomb threat email received by multiple schools in Delhi on October 15. That hoax email contained pro-Khalistani slogans and warned students against attending the concert. As of Thursday evening, the ticketing partner had not removed the Mumbai show listing from its platforms.
Why it matters
Mumbai civic administration and event organizers face heightened security challenges as threat emails target a sitting mayor, a Bollywood icon, and a high-profile concert series already facing law enforcement pushback in Delhi. The developments underscore escalating security concerns around public figures and large gatherings during the festive season.
