· India · Indian Express, Times of India

The Borivali Police have booked two sisters, Mansi Acharya and Kinjal Acharya, for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 25 lakh from a hotelier by threatening him with a police case over a viral video. The video, which surfaced on September 26, showed a rat inside a dosa served at Radhakrishna Hotel-Banquet-Fast Food in Borivali West during a visit on September 24. Following the viral clip, the Food and Drug Administration suspended the hotel's license on September 28, forcing it to shut down. According to the police complaint, the hotelier Jai Kishore Shah negotiated the extortion demand down to Rs 7 lakh and paid an advance of Rs 1 lakh on September 30. Borivali Police laid a trap during a scheduled payment meeting on October 5 and served notices to the sisters instead of arresting them immediately.
