Mumbai's Mrinaltai Gore Flyover Surface Causes Skidding Accidents
· India · Indian Express, India Today
Motorists and local residents in Mumbai have reported frequent skidding incidents on the recently inaugurated Mrinaltai Gore flyover, citing an excessively smooth road surface. The 750-metre bridge, which connects Ram Mandir and Goregaon, has faced criticism for its slippery mastic finish, particularly during rainy conditions. The Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizen's Association has urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to apply a rougher tar layer to improve safety. The project, completed in July 2026 after eight years of construction, has also been subject to scrutiny over its final cost of Rs 247.97 crore.
Why it matters
The safety concerns on this major infrastructure project directly impact daily commuters and raise questions about the quality of municipal road works in Mumbai.
