In Ghatkopar, Sapna, a 35‑year‑old, was found dead on Sunday after her mother‑in‑law, Dhanlaxmi Ghanji, allegedly orchestrated her murder. Sapna had filed a domestic violence complaint against the in‑laws earlier this year. Police said Dhanlaxmi paid Rs 3 lakh to a former maid and her family to carry out the crime when she learned Sapna was returning alone from Dubai. Five people, including the maid and her relatives, have been arrested. The investigation revealed bruises around Sapna’s neck and a head injury inconsistent with her own testimony.
