A mysterious illness has caused multiple deaths among children in the Birsa block of Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh, since June 26. While official reports confirm eight deaths, unofficial estimates suggest the toll could be as high as 20. The affected children, primarily from the Baiga tribal community, have exhibited diverse symptoms including respiratory infections, measles, and malaria. Local health authorities are conducting door-to-door surveys and have established a temporary five-bed hospital in Kundekasa village to manage the outbreak.
