· Business · Economic Times, Business Standard
NCDEX has launched RAINCHNNAI, a new weather derivatives futures contract designed to help market participants hedge financial risks associated with Chennai’s Northeast Monsoon. The contract covers the period from September through December, a season that accounts for approximately 70% of the city's annual rainfall. This instrument follows the earlier introduction of the RAINMUMBAI contract, which focuses on the Southwest Monsoon. The new product is cash-settled and uses data from the India Meteorological Department to manage rainfall-linked financial exposure.
