NCW Seeks Immediate Arrests in Bihar Jamui Harassment Case

The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of the harassment of a young woman and her male companion in Bihar's Jamui district after video footage surfaced online. NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar wrote to the Bihar director general of police demanding an immediate FIR, time-bound investigation, and the arrest of all perpetrators. Jamui Police confirmed that three individuals have been taken into custody following continuous raids by a newly formed Special Investigation Team. SP Vishwajeet Dayal stated that the main accused has been identified and efforts are underway to apprehend him and other suspects. The victims, who are friends attending the same coaching institute, did not face further public disclosures as authorities sought to protect their privacy.
