Neeru Dhanda clinched an individual gold medal in the women's trap shooting event at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Tuesday, setting a new Asian record of 28 hits out of 30 in the final. China's Sun Yunong took silver with 26 points, while Kuwait's Hajar Abdulmalik won bronze with 21 points. Earlier in the day, Dhanda teamed up with Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer to win a silver medal in the women's trap team event. The 26-year-old Naib Subedar in the Indian Army was inspired to take up the sport by her cousin Lakshay Sheoran. Her triumph follows her historic gold medal win at the ISSF World Cup in Lonato, Italy, in July.
