Prime Minister Balendra Shah faces pressure from within his government and the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party to lead Nepal's delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The administration urges him to lobby the international community for climate justice, post-disaster reconstruction funds, and protection for the Himalayan ecosystem following floods that have killed over 1,000 people with nearly 4,000 missing. Foreign Affairs Minister Shisir Khanal had previously been assigned to lead the delegation. Meanwhile, the Nepal Army continues search operations for a sixth day inside hydropower tunnels along the Trishuli River. Due to a lack of local mortuary facilities, unidentified and decomposed bodies have been temporarily buried, and experts from India, China, and South Korea have been brought in to assist with clearing blockages.
