Netanyahu campaigns with Trump endorsement ahead of Israeli election
· World · Reuters, Axios
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu campaigned on Monday with former US President Donald Trump's endorsement, less than 48 hours before Israel's parliamentary election. Netanyahu sought to leverage Trump's backing to bolster his Likud party's electoral prospects. The endorsement comes as Netanyahu suggested Israel may restart its war on Iran if he remains in power. Israeli voters headed to the polls on Tuesday in a tightly contested race.
Why it matters
Netanyahu's embrace of Trump endorsement underscores the tight alliance between Israel and the incoming US administration, potentially shaping Israel's foreign policy and military posture toward Iran regardless of election outcome.
