New Details Emerge in NYC Subway Deaths of Malaika Chitre and Navam Kaul

Law enforcement sources revealed that Malaika Chitre and Navam Kaul were seen hugging and kissing on a New York subway platform before falling onto the tracks. The 24-year-old friends, both of Nepali descent and from New Jersey, were struck by a southbound No. 4 train at the Spring Street station in Lower Manhattan around 3:15 am on Sunday. Investigators stated that Kaul appeared to lose his balance and fall onto the tracks, after which Chitre went down in an apparent attempt to help him. The train operator attempted to apply emergency brakes but could not prevent the fatal collision. Four cars entered the station before the train came to a halt, and approximately 100 passengers onboard were subsequently evacuated.
