NHRC Issues Notice to Meta, MeitY, and Etah Administration Over Minor Exploitation Allegations

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notice to Meta, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Etah district administration over a complaint alleging minor children were repeatedly used in objectionable and politically sensitive social media videos. The complaint, from Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation, raised concerns over children's dignity, privacy, psychological well-being, informed parental consent, and possible exploitation. NHRC directed authorities to submit action-taken reports within two weeks and ordered SSP Etah to identify and protect the children. The District Magistrate was instructed to ensure care and rehabilitation through the Child Welfare Committee.
