Nick Kyrgios Cleared to Compete After One-Month Cocaine Ban

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios is eligible to return to competition following a one-month ban for testing positive for cocaine. Kyrgios tested positive on June 22 at an ATP 250 tournament in Spain and had been provisionally suspended since August 4. The International Tennis Integrity Agency accepted that the cocaine use occurred socially during a night out prior to the event, falling outside competition. The standard three-month sanction was reduced to one month after Kyrgios agreed to enter an approved treatment program. He also forfeited 6,570 Euros in prize money from the tournament.
