Nilekani-Led NTA Task Force Seeks Public Suggestions By September 13

A task force led by former UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani, set up by PM Narendra Modi to recommend reforms in public examinations, has invited suggestions from students, parents, teachers, academic institutions and other stakeholders. Submissions can be made in English, Hindi or regional languages via phone, mail, WhatsApp or a website, with a September 13 deadline. The task force was constituted after the leak of the NEET-UG 2026 paper, the gateway exam for MBBS admissions. The Supreme Court had earlier warned the Centre against "committee hopping" and asked how the new panel will build on the recommendations of the earlier K. Radhakrishnan Committee, formed after the NEET-UG 2024 leak. The Ministry of Personnel said the consultation aims to draw on the "experience, knowledge and perspectives of all stakeholders."

Public examinations, especially NEET-UG, directly affect tens of lakhs of Indian students seeking medical and engineering admissions every year, and repeated paper leaks have undermined trust in the NTA's testing system.
